THS3INT Assessment Task 1: International Tourism in the Media Exercise 20% Individual Work

Each student must collect and critically examine an aspect of international tourism reported in the media over the last 6 months, i.e., from a newspaper, magazine or, on a website. The media item should report on news from the Asia Pacific region.
Your critical examination should:
• Briefly summarise the main points of the article.
• Suggest which aspects of international tourism are revealed by the article, e.g., the impact of a terrorist attack on international tourism; climate change and international tourism; new developments in the international airline industry, etc.
• Provide a reference for the media article.
Students can use the Factiva electronic newspaper database held on the La Trobe University library catalogue which provides access to thousands of newspaper articles.
Word limit: The word limit for the Media Exercise is 1,000 words (+/ – 100 words).
