Students will submit a final essay (on the same topic as the essay outline submitted earlier in semester). The final essay will be a fully written essay, with appropriate referencing and arguments. Your final essay is expected to be a well written and structured academic essay in which you make appropriate use of subheadings, have good sentence structure, spelling and grammar. Your essay content needs to be structured logically and provide in-depth and critical analysis of the topic you have chosen.
1.Identify the human health changes it can cause in the short and long-term (positive and negative), and how these changes are produced by human-ecological systems (you need to investigate and identify what aspects of human-ecological systems cause human health impacts)
2.As part of identifying the aspects of human-ecological systems that produce these health impacts, design a systems diagram that you use to help explore the topic (you can either design your own, or use one of the systems diagrams presented in lectures as a template that you use to examine your chosen topic). In the essay outline, you do not need to have a complete systems diagram, but you do need to indicate clearly where a systems diagram will be included in the essay (e.g. by noting ‘a systems diagram will be included, showing how X, X and X contribute to poor human health outcomes related to X)
3.Identify (with supporting evidence) the interventions likely to be effective for
(i) improving human health outcomes while also
(ii) protecting environmental health. Your final essay should be a well written and structured academic essay that has a clear argument identifying, for your chosen topic, the (i) systems that cause negative health impacts in relation to the topic you have chosen, including a systems diagram and (ii) potential interventions you would recommend to reduce negative impacts and increase positive impacts of your chosen topic on both human and environmental health.
*You need to provide reasoned arguments, with referencing, for your argument. Your essay must include some form of diagram of a social-ecological system (such as the diagrams presented in the first three weeks of the course showing different systems models). You can choose to design your own systems diagram,
