Reliability and Validity of Information Online Tutoring
Reliability and Validity of Information:
Reliability means the degree to which the researchers can depend on the different source of information and on the information itself. A data is called reliable because it is based on a fact or any evidence, moreover, this type of data is precise, authentic, sure and trustable. When evaluating information reliability includes neutrality as an indicator (Pierce, 2008). On the other hand, validity of information is its significance to the researcher’s research question and objectives. The validity is concerned with the openness and truthfulness of its connection with the concepts under inspection. Sometimes, a researcher had to use data whose validity might not be that strong. There are scenarios when information found or gathered isn’t complete so to find validity the researcher should employ an array of different procedures to decrease dependency on any particular one (Pierce, 2008). The profession chosen for this essay is Nursing; it is an important field in the medical sector. Holanda, Marra and Cunha (2019) determined the reliability and validity of nurses in emergencies in different hospitals of Brazil. They investigated the results on the bases of different factors.

Different factors to check reliability and validity (Holanda, Marra & Cunha, 2019).
The paper used different measure for validity as well as reliability, both of them were calculated through a CSANE scale and were based on internal structure, external criterion and internal consistency. Hence, it is proved that nursing as a professionalism can be evaluated through validity and reliability. Moreover, in this report we will analyse different website through validity and reliability, the six websites are 1. Sage Publications 2. The Sydney Morning Herald 3. The New Idea 4. British Medical Journal (BMJ) 5. A Life Story Foundation and 6. Australian Journal of Advanced Nursing (AJAN). Validity and Reliability can be tough tools to measure information and sometimes a researcher might find it hard to evaluate the given information. The six websites that are given are different from one another like Sage Publications, BMU and AJAN are somewhat same because they include peer reviewed journals, articles and books. However, a life story foundation is a non-profit organization that work towards curing and treating ALS. On the other hand, New Ideas is an e-magazine whereas the Sydney Morning Herald is a newspaper. A few of the websites have similar attributes like New Ideas and the Sydney Morning Herald but they will include information that is somewhat valid and reliable. These websites majorly include data related to matters that occur on a daily basis. On the other hand, websites like Sage Publications, BMJ and AJAN include information that are authentic and sure because they include data based on proof and facts. Moreover, the data is evaluated through different tests or measures. These websites include papers and books that are reviewed and cites vigorously. Few examples of articles in these journals are Nursing workforce crisis in numbers by Appleby (2019) in British medical journal, Health Psychology book in Sage Publications and Roles of Rural and Remote Registered Nurses in Australia: an integrative review by Muirhead and Birks (2020) in AJAN. These papers and reviewed articles are reviewed by different academic scholars with proper facts and figures. For an information to be valid it should be analysed through different measures that is done through conducting of different tests. For a data to be reliable it should be based on authentic data and facts that is done through conducting in-depth research from other research papers.
In my opinion the preferred journal to evaluate the nursing profession through validity and reliability is the British Medical Journal. When this journal was searched with the keyword of nursing profession, the journal provided with different peer reviewed articles, clinical reviews, editorial, practice/news and blogs relevant to the nursing profession because the authors have included facts and figures. The journal provided research like nursing workforce and about the nursing practices. The first one is given above but the other data includes Nursing – the wave of the future by Crisp (2018). This not only includes about researches research in the nursing subject and field but also about the nursing workforce; what are they facing, what is the importance of nurses around the world today and many more. The website is reliable and valid because of the information available on the website is appropriate, authentic and includes research conducted on the bases of different tests and tools. Individuals related to the nursing field can search on this website for the current news, editorial, research papers for the nursing students and reviews about any new advancement in the nursing field. The world today is so vast and advanced that keeping tabs on every single detail is really hard so this journal provides the world with all the single and the smallest detail in the medical field. These details are all accurately researched and referenced from other academic scholars. Hence, the validity and reliability of this website is proved through different measures and procedure adopted by the researchers.
Nursing is a really important profession in this world, patients in the hospital need nurses for someone to take care of them and to help the surgeons and doctors. The nursing field has grown in a vast one and nurses are considered to be a major part of the hospitals. Moreover, this essay pointed out how nursing profession can be valued through reliability and validity tools through a research paper. This paper conducted the evaluation on the bases of CSANE scale and through different criterion. The research method included few factors that helped to evaluate validity and reliability for emergency nurses in Brazil. The research conducted that nursing can be seen as a valid and reliable profession. The preferred website for the validation and reliability of the nursing profession is the British Medical Journal that includes a range of different writing from peer reviewed articles to feature and many more. The data is accurate, authentic and true because it includes facts and proper research.
