Description of the task

The purpose of this task relates to course learning outcome two (2):

To develop healthy public policy to create environments and settings that support health and wellbeing.

Goal: The goal of this task is to demonstrate your skills in applying a policy process to plan for embedding the Health in all Policies (HiAP) approach in a health promotion setting.

Analysis is an very very important skill and competency required for professional practice in all professions, including health promotion.

Analysing involves identifying and considering the component parts of something to develop an in-depth understanding of the main parts and the connections between them.

 In this task you are analysing a policy process as a foundation for developing a plan to embed the HiAP approach in a health promotion setting.

A guide for the policy plan analysis presentation follows:

• Title of the presentation with your group names as the author
• Overview of the structure of the presentation
• Purpose statement for the presentation
• Overview of your health promotion setting
• Explanation of why HiAP is an appropriate approach in your setting
• Application of the Multiple Streams Framework policy analysis approach
• Discussion of your considerations within the policy plan for all of the Multiple Streams Framework domains within the context of your setting
• Conclusion to your presentation that specifies how the policy planning analysis will be used
• Reference list (
• Inclusion of and visual presentation of all components of the policy process
• Balance of relevant and appropriate images, tables, figures and/or text to represent and support communication of your policy planning analysis
• Use evidence throughout and to support your analysis; evidence refers to the scholarly literature which in this task is related to health promotion settings theory and practice, and
• Use of Vancouver JAMA style referencing; in-text and reference list.

The UNIfy program works from an individual case management approach for students who live with complex mental health. The program provides practical support to reduce the barriers that may impact on your success as a student.

The aim of the UNIfy program is to develop an individual support plan to assist you to connect with other students and the learning during your time at USC.

You can be referred to UNIfy through an appointment. Students wishing to access this service are asked to book online via the Student Hub for a short 15 minute call back, phone appointment.
