CO1: Describe key demographic, cultural and socio-economic factors that underpin the diverse health issues and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. 

CO2: Describe the relationship between the history of race relations in Australia and contemporary socioeconomic disadvantage faced by Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander people, particularly in association with changing patterns of epidemiology for Australia's first people. 

CO6: Describe approaches for promoting the social, emotional and physical well being of individuals, families and community groups in association with contemporary health policy and consumer directed care. 

CO7: Demonstrate an understanding of the changing patterns of epidemiology for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia

Task directions: 

You will write an academic essay focusing on how a contemporary healthcare strategy can improve a health issue experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. You will include key demographic, social, or cultural factors impact upon this health issue.

You will identify and discuss a health perspective, effective program, model of care or practice(s) that meets the needs and is more acceptable to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
