Assessment Instructions for Students
Students are required to plan a pitch for a 5-minute short narrative film. Please keep in mind that the films will be produced later in the semester (by you!), so your idea needs to be achievable within your own individual time, budget and resource restrictions.
Put together a document that addresses all activity points below. Use the activity headings in your document to ensure you have covered all criteria.
NB: Documents need to be legible and should be proof read before submission. Please request numeracy and literacy support at least one week prior to submission if this is something you need extra assistance with.

The 5 minute short film genre is serious nonfiction. The protagonist of the film is Mr. John Gilbert, a family man who values the emotions rather than material things. In this film Mr. John has got a court notice to vacant his house as the nearby airport is extending its facilities to this land. He fight the case against this in court. After so many struggles he won the case. The moral of this film is to know your rights and never be a victim of system which can easily manipulate you.

Target audience for the film is common man of Australia, or even international audiences of any age. This film is based on the basic land rights so all the common residents must know about their rights and constitutional laws which can protect them. Common men of Australia usually watch films which are based on subjects like environmental issues, social and civil rights. This film is based on a aboriginal community people who are fighting for their land rights. There is long history of aboriginals.

Mr. John Gilbert’s home is in the outer Melbourne, a blue collar suburb of Coolaro Australia. His house is filled with a modest lifestyle and love. He himself was a tow truck driver and always plan to make tacky renovations to his house. He has a sweet family of a wife and three children. Although his house was built in an underdeveloped housing tract on a toxic landfill and linked with an airport runway but he and his family were happy and feel pride to have their own home with so many memories. They think that they live in the lap of some kind of luxury. One day their happiness was threatened by some developers who attempted the compulsory acquisition of their house. Mr. John Gilbert and State. He along with his neighbors received a court notice of vacating his house located in southern hemisphere of Coolaroo Victoria. Notice states that airports commission need space to extend their freight handling facilities. Mr. John Gilbert and his neighbors are not considered stakeholders in this agreement between federal government and airports commission. Even they are threated, bullied and are offered bribe. Only the notice is been imposed to them to vacate their houses. Mr. John went to the High Court of Australia to fight the case against this and to protect his house. He believes the home is castle where everything around is collected with love and lots of memories.
