Note: Topic selection MUST be discussed with your lecturer prior to commencement of this assessment 

Some suggested topics (but not compulsory choices) may be related to the following:

• Examining families as a social system.
• Examining the barriers, tensions, and strategies to strengthen relationships.
• Examination of your current community, workplace, families, and other cultures accessing and impacting on the service and immediate community.
• Reflect upon current cultural safety, competence, awareness and sensitivity. How does this interrelate with your current community of practice?=
• Research Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities; how will these skills and knowledge support my work with families and communities.
• Research a particular environmental, cultural and community context, specifically related to socio cultural demographics and contexts.
• Reflection and analysis on a personal professional ‘journey’ discussing the relevant points in question. (refer to assessment rubric).
• Examine values that support cultural competence, sensitivity, awareness:  with reference to your own professional practice and experience.

You will need to consider your topic carefully, to ensure you will be able to discuss ALL of the following: 

• Discuss the current partnerships model in service delivery, and how this relates to your topic perspectives
• Define what the theoretical and social perspectives are that relate to the current partnerships model in service delivery
• Define what the sociological perspectives are that relate to the current partnerships model in service delivery
• Explain the theoretical and philosophical perspectives that underpin the current partnerships model in service delivery
• Explain the sociological perspectives that underpin the current partnerships model in service delivery
• Refer to and discuss the socio-cultural context of your chosen topic
• Expand on the socio-cultural context of the families in your topic to discuss how it impacts upon child rearing practices and participation in children’s services
• Expand on the socio-cultural context of the families in your topic to discuss how it impacts on your ability to develop respectful relationships with families
