Reflective Journal Part A
Career Development is a "consistent long-lasting procedure of developmental encounters that focus on looking for, getting and processing information about self, work-related and instructive options, lifestyle and job alternatives" (Jacob Bolen, 2012). Put another way, Career advancement is the procedure through which individuals come to comprehend them as they identify with the universe of work and their job in it. Theories and research depicting career behavior give the "conceptual glue" for just as describing where, when and for what reason profession counseling, career education, professional guidance, and other career intercessions ought to be actualized (Hall, 2007). Holland's methodology expresses explicit attention regarding social style or identity types as the real impact in career choice development (LynneAtanasoff, 1999). There are 6 Holland's types which assist people with identifying the personality inclinations and as indicated by the behavioral style and identity types, I can easily distinguish my job inclinations which will be useful in understanding my career improvement. In my view, it doesn't make a difference where an individual is remaining in their career stage; it's imperative to assess own objectives, relational abilities, qualities, shortcomings, and interests to keep career improvement in accordance with the identity and intrigue. For instance, I essentially value my salary potential, while others demand work-life balance. It's essential to comprehend yourself and your identity so you can discover a professional way that is fulfilling and rewarding. In the future, keeping my particular capabilities, abilities and scholarly foundation in my mind can enable me to secure positions that are within my dimension of expertise. Once an individual understands his/her limitations, they will be able to pursue career options that fit with one's skills and experiences. The content of Holland Types shared in week one are intuitively appealing and easily relatable with individuals.
Identity isn't exactly what you know; it is additionally how you know. Individuals are not brought into the world with an identity. Or maybe, identity is something that advances after some time. For instance, the individual may distinguish themselves as male or female, an individual from a specific religious gathering or much more actually they may recognize themselves as a failure, as somebody who is vulnerable to impact the course of their lives (Parfat, 1971). In spite of the fact that such personal convictions may have no bases in all actuality, they frequently are fully trusted by the general population who hold them. Thinking about myself, I have distinguished a few issues that are in my own character which is low self-esteem as there is an idea constantly present in my mind that I have a little value or worth. Another issue is the dread of dismissal which dependably disturbs me and in conclusion taking the stress of making everyone happy at the same time which is not possible in the realm of imagination. There are some aspects of my personal identity which I identified with the help of JO-HARI Window model where I could easily identify the quadrant which I belong to. My Quadrant from this model is a hidden area which includes the factors of my personality known to myself but unknown to others (Saxena, 2015). For example, I share less or contribute less of my personality with the world and communicate with fewer people. I like to keep my personality hidden. So sometimes I feel that I have a dual personality which I keep switching according to the group of individuals I interact with. In future I can use JO-HARI Window model to cope up my hidden personality traits by trying to open more and sharing more of my opinions. The content shared was helpful in understanding personal identity and how to minimize or maximize the quadrants effect on personal identity.
