Article Summary

In this research article, Lee et al (2017) carried out research on racial differences in childhood abuse. This research was carried out on the social disadvantage children that shows that bullying is significant on the African American and Hispanic adolescents than White children. The article identified the need for social programs to vitiate poverty and racial disadvantage. The article pinpoints that bullying carried out by the young children are affecting both, the victim as well as bullies. From the literature of Connell et al. (2017), Lee et al (2017) identified that the children maltreatment during early life can have a long-lasting emotional impact on the children that often results in abuse disorder in their adulthood. According to Lereya et al. (2015), childhood bullying commonly results in criminal activities and severe assaults Social disadvantage in terms of bullying in primary schools must not be forsaken. This research article also highlighted the significance of neighbourhood disadvantage in alleviating the chances of bullying. A neighbourhood disadvantage refers to the extreme poverty existing in a particular location, that results in failing schools, unemployment, family disruptions and poor biological profiles. Neighbourhood disadvantage is prominent in the areas where the high population of Blacks families are living under poverty (mostly headed by the single parent).
