MPM780 Foundations in Leadership
Description
This reflective writing task requires students to demonstrate both their understanding of the unit content and their ability to reflectively apply learning to their own leadership practice.
Specific Requirements
In each of topics, 1, 2, 3 and 4, students will be provided with a structured activity/question that they need to answer for this assessment. Students will select any two questions from the available 4 questions. The activity/questions can be found in sub-topics 1.4; 2.4; 3.4 and 4.4.
Students are required to write a 750-word response to each of the two selected questions to demonstrate their understanding of the topics and provide a reflection of their own leadership practise.
This is an individual assessment.
Each submission must contain the following:
- A clear indication of the activity/question as aligned to the topic. For example, I have decided to answer activity/question Topic 4, so therefore, I will commence my reflection with this heading.
- As the activities/questions ask you to draw in your theoretical knowledge from the topics, you are required to engage with and cite referred journal articles (there are no minimum number required)
- A reference list must be included in APA-7 Referencing Style
Learning Outcomes
This task allows you to demonstrate achievement towards the unit learning outcomes. The ULOs are aligned with specific graduate learning outcomes – that is, the skills and knowledge graduates are expected to have upon completion of their studies – and this assessment task is an important tool in determining achievement of those outcomes.
If you do not demonstrate achievement of the unit learning outcomes, you will not be successful in this unit.
It is good practice to familiarise yourself with the ULOs and GLOs as they provide guidance on the
knowledge, understanding and skills you’re expected to demonstrate upon completion of the unit. In this
way they can be used to guide your study.
Unit Learning Outcomes (ULO) | Graduate Learning Outcomes (GLO) |
ULO 1: Synthesise leadership theories and critique their application in authentic leadership contexts | GLO1: Discipline-specific knowledge and capabilities GLO4: Critical thinking |
ULO 3: Analyse your own leadership role and how future practice may change | GLO4: Critical thinking GLO6: Self-management |
